For Agence France-Presse, I delivered video and sound on a one day shoot to Solano County covering the plan by tech billionaires to create a new city. I directed this short science documentary on reforestation for KQED. Reporter Mallory Pickett and I wanted to explain to viewers the scientific processes that geneticists are using to replant our state’s burnt forests. We filmed the climbers, who collect conifer cones, using a GoPro and a DJI Mavic 2 drone in hopes of portraying the lofty efforts that are being made to rejuvenate California’s forests by authorities like CAL FIRE and U.S. Forestry Service. As the state loses more and more trees to intensifying wildfires, geneticists believe that forests can be regrown by selecting trees that are better adapted to global warming. We were inspired by the dogged efforts of sources like Arnaldo Ferreira and Jessica Huang whose work softens the negative impacts of climate change.

For YR Media, I served as the tech editor and project manager for this series on young leaders to watch in tech, arts, and culture. My role was to bridge all teams including the marketing, design, content, and executive editorial teams. In addition to producing all tech interviews, I also worked closely with the marketing lead to develop and execute an engagement strategy.

For Agence France Presse, I filmed this tech story about autonomous airplanes which was syndicated across dozens of platforms. Using a C300, I led video and sound recordings in the field and edited initial assemblies in PremierePro. This was a fast-turnaround news package.

For Agence France Presse (AFP), I produced this news package about Zion Ricks-Gaines, who is a blind skateboarder. Using a C300, I led video and sound recordings in the field and edited initial assemblies in PremierePro, turning the package around in about 24 hours.

For YR Media (formerly Youth Radio), I was the project manager for this interactive piece that shows how AI technology used in virtual proctoring can easily mistake normal behavior as suspicious. I worked with a web developer using agile development to iterate the experience, tracking the backlog in Github and coordinating the production of video assets. I also helped facilitate the communication of cross-functional teams that included marketing, design, content, development and executive leadership.

The use of virtual proctoring exploded when pandemic hit. For YR Media, I served as the lead producer for "Has Virtual Proctoring Gone Too Far?" The interactive story uncovers how the software negatively impacts students who are already struggling in a remote learning environment. Through data analysis and interviews, we found that the software caused additional anxiety and stress during remote test taking; students also cited privacy and civil rights concerns.

As the producer for this short documentary, I coordinated the crew, talent, and managed all logistics for our field and in-studio shoots. I also wrote the script which tells the story of Aaron Harvey who was targeted by law enforcement using facial recognition.  The video is episode one in our three-part series about the harmful effects of emerging technologies.

For The Guardian, I recorded sound in the field during interviews and acapella performances. Every year, acapella groups from technology companies across the San Francisco Bay Area gather to perform in a sold-out event called Techapella. Groups performing include Google, Facebook, Twitter and many more.

For this breaking news story, I served as the media manager and lead videographer. The role involved collecting footage at four separate locations, recording video and sound for the key interviews as well as b-roll of San Francisco City Hall, polling stations, and our sources in action. I used a C300 and Seinheiser wireless lavs to capture sound. The story was published on CGTN’s website Feb. 17, 2022 and features a standup with reporter Mark Niu.

For PBS Newshour, I was the lead producer and project manager of this piece about how undocumented young folks got out the Latino vote in Arizona during the 2016 Presidential Election. The role involved reporting to the executive producers, narrating and writing the script, and editing revisions with Premiere Pro.

Produced for ABC 7 San Francisco, this story investigates the sale of Hope Tabernacle, a historical church in San Jose that was sold without the community's support or clarity on where the money went. I gathered records on the deed of the property, operated the second camera during interviews and helped book sources.

Gender violence continues to rock Ciudad Juárez. Since 1993, hundreds of women have gone missing and hundreds more have been victims of homicides. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, there are 110 cases of missing women still under investigation, with 11 of those cases coming just from the first four months of 2017. The female victims are not the only ones impacted. Crimes against women have left long-lasting effects for the families of victims who haven’t been found. These are the stories of the mothers that still search for their missing daughters, and of the orphaned children left behind. I supported lead producer Angélica Casas in the reporting of this series.

For this magazine news story, I helped find and schedule sources and was in charge of filming and sound. “The Waiting Game” takes a look at the refugee crisis in France before the 2017 Presidential elections. After The Jungle was dismantled in Calais, many asylum seekers were sent to centers across the country. But some of them ended up in the streets of Paris with nowhere to go. The piece focuses on understanding the struggles of finding solutions for both refugees and the country of France to a problem that has become the center of attention over the last 2 years.

I co-produced this camerawork and sound and delivered it as a rush to AJ+. The piece was tailored to be published on social media and got over 100,000 views on Facebook.
